Outward-opening system windows swing outward, saving interior space and giving good ventilation, but they place higher demands on installation quality and safety. Because the sash hangs outside, any defect in fixing or hardware is far riskier than with inward-opening windows. Yatton reminds buyers to focus acceptance on four points: fixing, hardware, anti-fall and drainage. Fixing: the number, spacing and embedment depth of the connectors between frame and wall must meet the standard; corners and lock points need reinforcement, and expansion bolts alone should be avoided in favour of dedicated connectors combined with chemical anchors. Hardware is the core of safety: hinge or stay load capacity must match the sash size and weight, and stay material and thickness must not be skimped; high-rise units should have anti-fall chains or limit devices to restrict the opening angle and prevent the sash detaching in strong wind. After installation, open and close repeatedly to check for noise, sticking or looseness. Drainage and sealing must not be ignored: keep drain holes clear to avoid water backing up into the room, and use continuous, unbroken sealing strips that fit tightly to the frame. During acceptance, observe for leaks in rain or under a water spray and check that every sash locks firmly. Working through these items as a checklist effectively reduces the safety risk of outward-opening system windows.
