OpenAI is rolling out a major interface overhaul to ChatGPT called Intelligent UI, launching for all users alongside GPT-6, and it changes what a chat response can look like.
Instead of returning text only, the model can now decide to respond with interactive visuals: diagrams, charts, forms and tappable buttons built directly into the chat interface. The key detail is that GPT-6 was specifically trained to know when to generate these interactive elements rather than defaulting to text every time.
That is a meaningful architectural shift: the model itself is making user-experience decisions, not just a template layer sitting on top. AI interfaces, in other words, are becoming applications rather than chatboxes.
The rollout reaches all of ChatGPT's reported 1.2 billion weekly users, making it one of the largest interface changes in the product's history and a template other AI labs are likely to follow.
