Geely is preparing to enter the Canadian market in 2027, establishing dealerships and service operations after an agreement between Ottawa and Beijing allowed limited imports of Chinese electric vehicles, according to industry reporting.
The Canadian opening stands in sharp contrast to the United States, where tariffs and restrictions continue to block Chinese automakers from the market. For Geely, the Canadian launch offers a foothold in North America that remains closed off south of the border.
The push abroad comes at a pivotal time for the Chinese automaker. Geely's domestic sales in China were down 23 percent in the first nine months of 2026, while exports surged 169 percent over the same period. International expansion is quickly shifting from optional to essential.
Canadian launch models and sales dates have not yet been confirmed, but the company is expected to lean on its electrified lineup, where it has among the deepest model ranges of any Chinese brand.
