Shell/seal damage from impact, corrosion or worn flameproof joints; failed seals (aged gaskets, cable glands) letting in dust/moisture/gas; non-compliant installation (wrong glands, poor bonding/grounding); long-term over-temp/overload causing carbonization and arcing; and poor maintenance.
