The drying time of eco-friendly water-based paint may be long, mainly for these reasons:
Slow water evaporation: water-based paint uses water as diluent; water evaporates much slower than organic solvents. Evaporation is strongly affected by temperature and humidity; in low-temperature, high-humidity environments it slows greatly, extending drying. For example, in the humid plum-rain season, near-saturated humidity prevents rapid evaporation, slowing drying.
Complex film formation: after water evaporates, emulsion particles approach and fuse into a continuous film, requiring time and suitable conditions. Poor conditions (low temperature) weaken particle motion and fusion, extending drying.
Application thickness: too-thick films increase the distance for internal water to migrate out, lengthening evaporation and overall drying.
