During water-based industrial paint application, particle problems are common. Particles in the coating are bump-like protrusions like heat rash, rough to the touch, uneven.
Causes:
1. Metal surface preparation substandard - dust and sand left after sanding not cleaned before spraying.
2. Bubbles from diluting with pure water not fully dispersed before application, especially in cold weather, leaving a rough dried surface.
3. Dust/sand in the spray environment falling into the coating or onto the wet film.
4. Overspray polluting the film.
5. Water-based curing agent misused - incompatible with the base paint, or not stirred/filtered thoroughly, causing particles.
Solutions:
1. Level uneven metal with putty, sand smooth, clean dust/impurities before spraying.
2. Let mixed paint stand 10-20 min for bubbles to disperse before use.
3. Filter diluted paint through filter cloth to remove debris; avoid windy/dusty conditions; protect freshly sprayed workpieces from secondary pollution.
4. Correct spray technique to minimize overspray.
5. Properly match paint and curing agent compatibility, mix by ratio and stir evenly.
If roughness already occurs, sand smooth and apply another coat. For high-grade decoration, sand or polish with wax, then add glaze and buff.
