Phenomenon: after drying the film is not transparent but shows a frost-like white, sometimes at nail-head spots. Causes: (1) substrate oil content too high causing emulsion break and poor film; (2) dilution water with high metal ions causing emulsion break; (3) board moisture too high, water keeps evaporating, film stays humid; (4) paint too thick, interior stays wet long, powder settles and whitens; (5) loose substrate absorbs too fast, poor film, white appears; (6) fast absorption at nail-hole fillers makes white haze after coating; (7) film itself weak in high humidity, absorbs water long-term and whitens. Prevention and treatment: (1) pre-treat substrate and apply a sealer to prevent blushing; (2) dilute with pure water and let stand 15 min before use; (3) choose proper environment per process; (4) apply when board moisture <16%; (5) use matching products - sealers handle loose substrates and avoid blushing; (6) if nail holes whiten, repair with colorant and alcohol; (7) for blushing from long-term high humidity, adjust the formula; (8) wipe whitened areas with alcohol then recoat immediately; (9) blushing from thick coat and powder settling cannot be repaired - sand off and repaint.
