Three main differences: 1) Resin system: ordinary water-based paint uses styrene-acrylic or pure-acrylic emulsion, mostly single-component; industrial uses water-based alkyd, epoxy ester, epoxy, acrylic-polyurethane and various modified/blended systems. 2) Performance: ordinary emphasizes low odor and eco concepts with scrub resistance; industrial needs higher properties - salt spray, impact and adhesion resistance - and adapts to dip, on-site or robotic spraying for large areas. 3) Use: ordinary for exterior walls, wood, wrought iron; industrial for steel-structure anti-corrosion, containers, bridges, machinery. Application differences: water-based paint needs no special training to brush and is easy for DIY touch-up, while oil paint needs professional training; water-based is eco, non-toxic, odorless, move-in anytime, no yellowing, while oil paint is pungent, contains benzene, needs degassing and yellows; water-based uses water as diluent (harmless), oil uses banana/toluene thinners (carcinogenic); water-based gives bright, flexible, water/wear/age/yellowing-resistant film, oil gives harder but brittle film hard to repair; water-based is non-flammable and easy to store, oil is flammable and needs separate fire-safe storage.
