Eco-friendly water-based paint uses water as diluent and evaporates much slower than solvent-based paints, so it is highly susceptible to slow drying from environmental, application and ratio factors. Environmental mismatch is the main trigger: low temperature, high humidity and poor ventilation stop surface moisture from evaporating, leading to false dry. Improper application - overly thick single coats or too-short intervals between coats - causes internal moisture buildup and inconsistent drying. Over-dilution with excess water lowers solid content and lengthens drying. Low substrate temperature or sealed pores block moisture release. Sites lacking humidity control, especially in rainy weather, aggravate the problem. Fix it by managing temperature/humidity, controlling film thickness, ensuring airflow and mixing exactly to specification.
