Thanks to good compatibility, eco-friendly water-based paint suits many substrates; choose the right type per substrate. Wood (solid wood, MDF, particleboard): use a penetrating water-based wood sealer primer then a topcoat for wear; for engineered boards with adhesives, pair with an alkali-resistant primer to prevent formaldehyde bleed - water-based wood clear/colored paints for furniture, flooring, doors. Metal (steel, aluminum, stainless): degrease and derust first, then a water-based anti-rust primer; topcoat with water-based metal paint (indoor hardware) or fluorocarbon water-based paint (strong weather resistance for outdoor fences, machinery). Walls (cement, putty, gypsum): use interior or exterior water-based wall paint; interiors prefer matte/satin, exteriors need water- and UV-resistant types on dry, flat surfaces. Special substrates: plastic needs an adhesion-promoting primer, glass needs water-based glass paint with surface activation beforehand.
