A German shepherd mauled a man to death in the UK, and the owner was arrested on murder suspicion as police seek witnesses. In Wakefield, a conflict left a man bitten by a German shepherd who later died; another 55-year-old man was arrested and is suspected of murder, British media reported. A man in West Yorkshire was bitten and died; police then arrested another man on suspicion of murder.
Police have cordoned off the footpath and continued door-to-door inquiries around the attack site. The path, a former railway line, sees few pedestrians. A couple who had planned to walk there said, 'We like it because it's quiet and secluded,' adding, 'Occasionally we meet a dog walker, but most of the time we see no one.'
Police tape stretched across the path and a patrol car sat in the roadside pull-off. The couple said, 'There are almost no residences nearby, especially this time of year, with the path flanked by thick trees, very secluded. Few people likely witnessed what happened.'
