On August 17, at the Taoxichuan designer market in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, Mr. Ma's act of selling leaves at 10 yuan apiece went viral online.
According to Mr. Ma, the inspiration came after a rainfall — fallen leaves littered the area around his stall, and visitors' eyes were drawn to the leaves instead of his works. He decided to donate all the proceeds to a cleaning uncle who works in the park, keeping not a cent for himself. A heartwarming scene also unfolded at the stall: a boy wanted to buy two leaves. Though the father knew the purchase carried little practical meaning, he unhesitatingly paid 20 yuan to show his support.
