Du Linya, an official from the State Administration for Market Regulation's Registration Bureau, stated at a State Council Information Office press conference that individual businesses are the most numerous type of market entity in lower-tier markets. As of the end of July this year, the ratio of registered individual businesses to enterprises in lower-tier markets stood at 209 to 100, significantly higher than the 85-to-100 ratio in first- and second-tier cities. The number of individual businesses in lower-tier markets exceeds 78 million, with 86 percent engaged in service-related industries.
