The death toll from the strong earthquake in Colombia has reached 289, with houses severely damaged. Data updated by Colombia's National Disaster Risk Management Unit on the 16th shows that as of 7:30 that morning, the strong quake had caused 289 deaths and 4,187 injuries in the country. The death toll was revised down by 5 compared with the figure released the previous day, but no reason was given.
As disaster statistics continue to be compiled, the number of damaged houses has risen sharply; to date, 26,945 houses have been destroyed and 127,557 houses have been damaged to varying degrees.
According to the official determination of the China Earthquake Networks Center, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck northwestern Colombia on the evening of the 10th Beijing time (the morning of the 10th local time in Colombia), with a focal depth of 80 kilometers. The earthquake caused 32 cities across Colombia to be severely affected.
