Concrete productivity gains are emerging as artificial intelligence moves from exhibition booths into workshops across China, state media reported during the 2026 AI Industry Conference in Jinan.
At Shanghai-based menswear maker Baoniao, AI embedded in design, production scheduling and management has compressed custom-suit delivery from 20 days to 5 days while raising the product pass rate to 99 percent. At Dongfeng's eπ plant, an agent-based "Equipment Master" system has cut average response time to emergency equipment failures from 10 minutes to 4 minutes. At FAW in Jilin, a multimodal smart-cockpit collaboration system has lifted testing efficiency on key modules by more than 60 percent.
Analysts say such figures — less flashy than model benchmark scores — are the real evidence of a shift in the industry's logic: AI's value is migrating from the dimension of "technical sophistication" to that of "production-line effectiveness", with scarce resources shifting from model capability to verifiable, replicable, scalable industrial scenarios.
