A seminar marking 20 years of learning and promoting the "Yiwu Development Experience" was held in Yiwu on October 11, gathering government representatives and experts to explore how peaceful construction empowers social development in a county with population mobility exceeding 50%.
Yiwu's market operating area now exceeds 8 million square meters, driving the development of 110 industrial belts nationwide. Every year, more than 2.1 million types of goods ship from Yiwu to over 230 countries and regions — a scale of outward-oriented activity that raises the bar for foreign-related legal protection. The city has pushed an international-trade legal-services cluster into the market, built Zhejiang's first cross-border e-commerce IP protection collaboration center, and established the country's first account-freeze assistance center.
Scholars at the seminar noted that Yiwu's market-procurement trade model rose from local pilot to national system, its "foreign-affairs mediation by foreigners" dispute resolution is recognized by foreign businesspeople, and the Global Digital Trade Center is piloting digital-trade rules — evidence that local practice can serve as the "first inventor" of foreign-related legal innovation. Northwest University of Political Science and Law will use its Yiwu research institute to support studies on Yiwu goods going overseas and overseas-interest protection.
