Breaking the traditional peak-and-off-season rhythm, Yiwu's foreign trade is showing unusual resilience as reverse-season shipments become the norm, with Christmas goods, sports gear and festival gifts keeping factories busy in summer.
Overseas buyers place early orders to lock in capacity and avoid year-end logistics peaks, pushing delivery schedules into August and September. Sports goods follow the same pattern as event cycles drive advance stocking.
In the first half of 2026, Yiwu's total import and export value reached 486.42 billion yuan (up 19.9%), with exports of 420.72 billion yuan (up 17.3%). Cluster advantages in trade, logistics, manufacturing and cross-border services let Yiwu respond quickly to small-batch, multi-batch, customized orders, shifting from "low-price volume" to "innovation-based ordering."
