On September 1, 2026, Nubia's NaviX Ultra received network access approval from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, completing the compliance process from large model filing to terminal network access.
The device is positioned as the world's first AI agent smartphone, moving from concept verification to scaled commercial deployment. It will be equipped with Doubao mobile assistant and is scheduled for launch and sale in September.
Industry analysts said the core appeal of the "Doubao Phone" lies in whether intelligent agent phones can redefine human-computer interaction paradigms. While current so-called AI phones mostly pre-install large model applications or run small on-device models, the NaviX Ultra aims to achieve Agent OS-level autonomous perception, decision-making, and execution.
If successful, this would represent an architectural leap for smartphones from "tools" to "assistants," potentially establishing a new category in the mobile device market.
