China's smart glasses market experienced explosive growth in the first half of 2026, with sales jumping 85.5% year-on-year, reflecting the rapid mainstream adoption of AI-powered wearable devices.
The growth is driven by advancements in large language models that enable more natural voice interactions, as well as improvements in display technology, battery life, and lightweight design. Major technology companies including Huawei, Xiaomi, and BYD-backed brands have entered the smart glasses market with competitive offerings.
Industry data also revealed that China's L2 combined assisted driving penetration rate has reached 70.5% in 2026, while front-mounted air suspension adoption rate rose to 7.23%, extending into the 250,000 yuan price segment. These figures underscore how intelligent features are becoming standard rather than premium options.
The convergence of AI, automotive, and wearable technologies is creating new market segments. European automakers including Volkswagen and Stellantis are investing billions of euros in R&D centers and battery factories in China, with their role shifting from "market for technology" to "technology cooperation" as Chinese automotive technology increasingly leads.
Chinese automaker Huawei's autonomous driving chip market share has broken into double digits for the first time, while China Mobile reported multi-fold growth in AI computing services, indicating the broader ecosystem impact of AI across both consumer and enterprise sectors.
