Leapmotor launched its A05 compact electric sedan on August 11, pricing it between 63,900 and 90,900 yuan in a direct challenge to rivals in the sub-100,000-yuan segment.
The A05 offers two range options of 405 km and 510 km under the CLTC standard. Notably, higher trims include LiDAR-based advanced driver assistance, a feature rarely seen in vehicles at this price point.
The vehicle is equipped with an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch central display, and Snapdragon 8155 or 8295 chips depending on trim. Top versions feature heated and ventilated front seats, and fold-flat front seats that can create beds.
With a trunk volume of 474 liters expanding to 1,308 liters when the rear seats are folded, the A05 targets young first-time buyers seeking affordable electric mobility with premium-style features.
The launch intensifies competition in China's most price-sensitive EV segment, where domestic brands are rapidly closing the technology gap once reserved for premium models.
