On October 15, Kunlun Tech (300418) released Matrix-Game 4.0, the first video game model that runs on a single consumer-grade graphics card, and open-sourced it simultaneously. The release builds a new paradigm of game world models: the game engine maintains world state and interaction rules, while the video-generation model renders fine visuals in real time.
Matrix-Game 4.0 packs a 480p, 60 FPS real-time gaming experience onto a single NVIDIA RTX 5090, with latency below 150 milliseconds from keypress to on-screen response. The project is the first to run the complete loop of "code generates game logic → structure provides constraints → video model renders in real time," giving prototype development, customization and UGC a truly viable technical path.
With a coding agent, creators can use natural language to adjust scenes, customize interactions and design gameplay — compressing the threshold of research and creation to the height of a single prompt, so more ideas become games they can experience and iterate. Kunlun Tech said it will keep iterating the model, deploy a refiner to raise resolution, explore consistent multi-player cross-view experiences and extend support to more game types and scenarios.
The synchronized open-sourcing provides researchers, developers and creators with reusable technical foundations and adaptable game code, lowering the bar for game-world-model exploration.
