4J29 (Kovar) is an iron-nickel-cobalt glass-sealing alloy whose thermal expansion coefficient closely matches borosilicate hard glass between 20-450 C. It has a high Curie point and good low-temperature structural stability; its dense oxide film is readily wetted by glass and it does not react with mercury. The primary sealing material for electron vacuum devices.
